What's New

Version 5.0

Our spring '08 release contains some much asked for features. In particular:

  • Scout Accounts... Create individual bank accounts for each scout and/or leader in your unit, allowing you to track fundraising results and payment history for each individual scout.
  • File Space... Each ScoutManage account comes with disk space allowing you to upload files and pictures to share with your unit, attach to calendar entries, or put pictures on scout home pages.
  • OpenId Single Sign-on Support... Support for the industry standard OpenId single sign-on allows you to create a single user account and share it with many websites on the internet, including ScoutManage. Use your AOL screen name or your WordPress username to login to ScoutManage.
  • Secure Hardware-based Login... Using OpenId and VeriSign's Personal Identity service, you can make use of 3rd party hardware tokens, such as the keychain device used by PayPal, to make your ScoutManage account more secure and reduce your risk of identity theft.
  • Improved Date Selection... All date entry forms now use a consistent selection mechanism. You may either manually enter a date in the text form, or click the icon next to the box to select from a popup calendar. The popup calendar allows you to move to new months and new years quickly and easily.
  • Leadership Position History. Now you can go back and view a complete history of who held which leadership positions on which dates. The history is automatically filled in as you set and change leadership assignments, but you may also go back and add or edit previous history entries.
  • Finer Granularity Fee Assignment. Previously a fee had to be assigned to all scouts in a den/patrol or the entire unit, and either all leaders or no leaders had to pay the fee. Now you can select individually which scouts and/or leaders have to pay a specific fee. When a new scout arrives, you can decide whether they should have to pay the fee or not.
  • Daily Recurring Events. You may now select daily as your recurring option for recurrent events. This allows you to setup multi-day events, such as camping trips, with a single calendar entry.

Version 4.4

The summer '07 release of ScoutManage added several new features to assist with new units, along with helping the ScoutManage community get the help they need to maintain their units. In particular:

  • Import. ScoutManage can now import data from TroopMaster, PackMaster, and ScoutTrack, along with applications that can generate standard CSV files (such as Microsoft Excel). A standalone Windows application is available to help make this migration easier.
  • Customer Support. Members can now get help on using ScoutManage by visiting our new help center. In this center, you will find an extensive knowledge base of helpful hints. If your answer is not available in the knowledge base, you can quickly and easily submit your question to us as a customer support ticket. By creating an account in our help center, you can track the status of your pending support question(s), and view the answers from previously submitted questions.
  • ScoutManage Wiki. All of the ScoutManage documentation is now available on our Wiki. Members can view the contents of this help, and they can contribute to it. Members can create new articles containing helpful hints or tricks, update or refine our existing documentation, or correct mistakes in the documentation. The net result? A community generated document valuable to everyone using ScoutManage.
